Robert Hoffman was born in Salzburg, Austria, on August 30th. 1939. After the Robinson Crusoe series ended his acting career was mainly in German language films. He did, however , have one more moment of stardom in the UK when he was chosen to play the U-boat Captain in the 1980 film "The Sea Wolves" also starring Gregory peck, Roger Moore, David Niven, Trevor Howard and Patrick Mcnee.

Robert Hoffman was interviewed on BBC radio and television in 2001 when the entire Robinson Crusoe series was released on video.
