INSIDE THE CHURCH
The main body of the new church. One of the focal points in any Catholic Church is the Tabernacle. The new church is designed so that one's eye comes to rest automatically on the Tabernacle, which is placed directly behing the altar. It is on a much higher level than the altar so that all in the church can see it. We give the Tabernacle this place of prominence because of our belief.
We believe in the Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament - that is Christ living in our midst in the Tabernacle. The Bread which is consecrated during Mass becomes the Body of Christ and is not only the Food of Life but also His living Presence among us. That is why so many catholics visit church outside of Mass: to pay their homage and respect to their Saviour; to seek help and solace; to thank Him for all the Blessings that He bestows, and simply to rest in His company.
