First egg laid at 7.41am on Tuesday 17th March. 2nd egg laid at 1.50pm on Thursday 19th March.
3rd egg laid Sunday 22nd March at 5.20am. 4th egg seen in nest at 8.12am on Tuesday 24th March.
First egg hatched at 10.17am on Sunday 26th April! Second egg hatched at 5.13am Monday 27th April.
3rd egg hatched at 9.58pm on Tuesday 28th April.

All the chicks have fledged now (September 2026) and are on their way to West Africa until they return next March.

A pair of Peregrine Falcons have nested in Old Joe’s Tower (The Clocktower at Birmingham University) every year since 2013. Watch the livestream during 2026.
Every springtime, like clockwork, any major activity on the University of Birmingham’s iconic Old Joe clocktower must pause and take a four-month break, including no access to the bell chamber, to allow the University’s resident peregrine falcons to take up their annual residence.
Between April and July, we are livestreaming the peregrine nest box (located at the top of Old Joe Clocktower) so our University community can see the falcons and, hopefully, their chicks.
Monday 11th May update: First egg hatched at approx. 7.00am. (Other eggs are duds or infertile!)

Tuesday 14th April 2026 Update: Eggs tend to be laid 3 days apart, this means we’ll expect the second egg on Friday 17th. Delayed incubation until the second or third egg is laid is not uncommon. This can bring the hatching times closer together, sometimes resulting in a less significant size and development difference between the chicks.” (Second egg laid on Friday 17th at 8.45am.) (Third egg laid on Monday 20th at 8.26am.) (Fourth egg laid on Thursday 23rd April at 6.57am. Eggs should hatch around 23rd May.) (First chick hatched at 3.06pm on Friday 22nd May. Second chick hatches at 12.09pm Saturday 23rd May. Third chick out of shell at 9.55am on Tuesday 26th May. Fourth egg hatched at 8.13am Friday 29th May.)
