Friday 28th April 2023: (one day old.)
Friday 5th May 2023: (one week old.)
It’s been quite windy up there on the nest this last week but the parent Falcons have been shielding their young very well. After the first week their eyes are open now and they have grown quite a lot with plenty of food being brought in for the four chicks. Amongst the food debris are a few rings on the legs of caught birds so maybe they can be salvaged eventually and identified. Quite a few people on the grass below, by the lamp post, have been watching the Falcons flying in and out of the nest, it must have been quite a spectacular event. I hope they have also been watching this LIVE-streamed video too!
Wednesday 10th May 2023: Unfortunately the live-stream went down yesterday afternoon, so while the live-stream is down here they are feeding this morning! (2mins 5secs.) If you missed them feeding in the video above you can see them here! They have really grown so quickly - we can see their fluffy down fading and feather buds are appearing, which the chicks seem to be preening!
Friday 12th May 2023: (two weeks old).
Fortunately, and amazingly, all the four chicks have survived and grown so much in the past week, even their wing feathers are now showing. Mother Falcon stands guard as they are now becoming too big for all of them to shelter underneath her and they are now ‘hardened off’ to our weather conditions.
You can see just how much space they all take up when huddled together for extra warmth!!
This LIVE 24/7 feed is no longer available but you may
like to see Mum and chicks in the nest, feeding, etc. (35mins)

Friday 19th May 2023: (three weeks old).
Well, these four chicks have grown so much more during this past week - now you can see developing wing and tail feathers and when they stretch out their wings they are so long and wide!! They are also pecking at food left in the nest and are as hungry as ever!! There’s not much room left in the nest and I do hope that none of them falls out! Maybe there should be some sides in the nest. They don’t need to be sheltered every night any more and one of the Falcons stands guard every night on the perch sticking out.
Friday 26th May 2023: (four weeks old).
It is absolutely amazing just how fast these chicks have grown - they are preening their lengthening feathers and squarking for more and more food. I noticed that last Sunday they were all ringed! By this time next week I doubt if any fluffy down will be left and they will all be flexing their very wide wingspans ready for a ‘take-off’.
Friday 2nd June 2023: (five weeks old).
Five weeks old and nearly fully fledged - jumping up and down in the nest and stretching their (very wide) wings - and getting ready to fly off. They sure do grow so very quickly! Feeding habits have changed towards the end of this week - the parents are sometimes just leaving food for them to fight over and to feed for themselves now.
Sunday 4th June 2023: (five+ weeks old).
The two largest of the four chicks have flown the nest this morning. Last night all were huddled together but late this morning only two remain. One of the parents is bringing in food but not as often as before and they do fight over it. There is obviously a lot of squarking as they are both probably quite hungry. Both remaining chicks are hopping about and flapping their wings - I wonder who will be next to go!
The third chick now flies from the nest at 05.20am this morning leaving the last chick all alone!! I wonder if the parent Falcons will come and feed it or will it fly off today too?
This last chick looks very lonely - will it fly off soon? The parent Falcon delivered food on Tuesday but haven’t seen anything since and this lonely chick has been scavenging food off the remains of legs and other bones still left in the nest. It really needs to fly off now and find fresh food before it starves! This evening one of the Falcon parents bought in some food for the lonely chick - it was soon snatched from the parent Falcon and was eaten up almost straight away.
Tuesday 6th June 2023: (five+ weeks old).
Friday 9th June 2023: (almost six weeks old - ? the last one to hatch)
and the slowest to grab the food off the parents.
How unfortunate that this chick slips off the perch! I do hope the chick was able to save itself and fly off before hitting the ground!!
