Phone: (0121) 248 1368. The oldest inn in Birmingham (c.1368) is an independently run establishment offering a delightful traditional bar, an intimate restaurant, truly unique accomodation and impressive facilities for both business conferences and special occasions.
Half a mile (0.8km) from the new BullRing shopping complex, next door to the cosmopolitan Custard Factory and in the heart of the historic Irish quarter, "The Old Crown" offers a unique and welcoming experience to guests and regulars alike.
Easily reached from The National Coach Station at Digbeth, Moor Street and New Street railway stations and Birmingham International Airport, The Old Crown is ideally situated for visitors to Birmingham who want something out of the ordinary, not just the usual anodine fare.
Scoring Guide: HALESOWEN, West Midlands. Scoring Guide: How to get there: From the City Centre go via Hagley Road, and Hagley Road West, along the A456, to Quinton Old Church, total 5 miles. A few yards on turn left at the "Ladbrokes" betting office and the "Classic Fryer" Chip Shop, just before the M6 bridge, and go down Spies Lane to the traffic island. City of Birmingham Skyline
AND RESTAURANTS
[updated November 2007]
If you want the high life with crowded pubs, night clubs, restaurants and cinemas then Broad Street, just past the International Convention Centre, is just the place for you.
However, if you want to sample some traditional English pubs and nice convivial atmospheres then just take a taxi to Harborne High Street, just about 2 miles from the City Centre and in an exclusive area of Birmingham, along with Edgbaston. There is a huge variety of very different Pubs and Restaurants within Harborne; and my guide to the Harborne Pubs, and Restaurants, will give you a very good range of choices depending on what you fancy, either English, Indian / Asian, French, Italian, Japanese, American, Chinese, or Thai Restaurants; or a variety of Pubs from the old, quaint and small to the large chain brand, that serve food, and all are there for your delictations. Car Parking is available off the High Street in St. John's Road Car Park or in the York Street Car Park. Parking along the busy High Street is at a premium!!
My Scoring Guide:
Not worth a visit!
Nothing Special, visit if you want!
Average, should be worth a visit.
Very Good, definately worth a visit.
Excellent, Highly Recommended.
If you do visit any of the pubs, or restaurants, below then
PLEASE DO MENTION THIS INTERNET SITE!! Thank you.
But first, take a look at these two pubs........
"THE ANCHOR INN", Bradford Street, Digbeth.
They often have beer festivals, themed beer weekends or other such events. "The Anchor Inn" has become justifiably famous for its constantly changing range of real ales, mostly from small, independent breweries. There is a designated no-smoking area for those who prefer these surroundings. This is adjacent to the public bar.

Excellent, Highly Recommended.
"THE OLD CROWN", 188 High Street, Deritend.

Excellent, Highly Recommended.
[Only 5 miles from Birmingham City Centre!!]
"THE ROYAL OAK", Manor Lane/Spies Lane.
"Ember Inns Group." This is my favourite pub at the moment. If you don't mind a short drive then you will experience a pub with an extensive [restaurant] menu until 9pm, and Sunday Lunches, in very pleasant homely surroundings. Open all day till 11pm, and to 12midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Quiz night on Tuesdays. Good selection of draught beers, bottled beers, cask ales, guest beers, and wines. "Double-up" on spirits for only £3.09. Large covered smoking area outside. Bar snacks after 8pm. Flame-effect log fires. Bowling Green at the rear. Beer Garden at the rear and side. If you are a foreign tourist / business person and show your passport to the boss, Gary, he might even buy you a drink if you order a meal and mention this web site!!!!!

Excellent, Highly Recommended.
[Approx. 2 miles from City Centre]
