Winner - Germany with “Ein Bisschen Frieden. (A Little Peace.) by Nicole.

I’m not too keen on the Eurovision Song contest these days but this song, by Nicole, from Germany, won the contest in 1982 with an overwhelming score!

Nicole's strong and crystal-clear voice gives this song a certain something that others singing this song probably could not give to it. Read the English version below and realise the strong message in the song; but don't just listen to the basic song, consider the vocal and strings backing and the accompaniment which surpasses the simple, yet effective, song.

Even today, Nicole is still very popular throughout Europe, and Germany in particular, and she is still releasing very popular albums on iTunes. I have the original song, in English, on a vynil 45rpm but can not find the English version on iTunes!!
(The English version translation is below...)

2016 update: I found this just by chance on YouTube today!! 33 years after the event Nicole sings an English version at the 60th Eurovision Anniversary in 2015, captured by the BBC!! Her voice sounds even better!! Enjoy all four videos below... I think the last video is the best version!

The original entry in 1982....

After the winning song was announced Nicole sang the song again but sang various parts of it in FOUR different languages!!

Here is the English version that I eventually found on YouTube......(The Val Doonican Show on BBC TV.)

But how about this.....just by chance I found this on YouTube.....

Published on Apr 8, 2015 and taken from the Eurovision 60th anniversary

captured by the BBC, Nicole singing that famous song in 2015!!

A LITTLE PEACE.
(EIN BISSCHEN FRIEDEN)

(English version.)

Just like a flower when Winter begins,
Just like a candle blown out in the wind,
Just like a bird that can no longer fly,
I'm feeling that way sometimes.

But then as I'm falling weighed down by the load,
I picture a light at the end of the road,
And closing my eyes I can see through the dark,
The dream that is in my heart.

A little loving, a little giving,
To build a dream for the world we live in,
A little patience and understanding,
For our tomorrows, a little peace.
A little sunshine, a sea of gladness,
To wash away all the tears of sadness,
A little hoping, a little praying,
For our tomorrows, a little peace.

I feel I'm a leaf in the November snow,
I fell to the ground there was no-one below,
So now I am helpless, alone with my song,
Just wishing the storm was gone.

We are feathers on the breeze,
Sing with me my song of peace,
We are feathers on the breeze,
Sing with me my song of peace.

As if you haven’t had enough of this already here is Nicole singing her winning song at the Bluegutters Pop Dance Extravaganza in January 2021!! Personally I think this is

by far the best version of this song! How many different languages does she sing in?
