MY GARDEN
IN SUMMER1996,
SPRING 1998, AND JULY 2000.
So now you will have seen the full year in my garden through all the seasons. This summer was even more colourful than last year.
The year was much drier and warmer and so through July and August I was watering all the pots, tubs and baskets nearly every day. Now, during September going into October it is much cooler; and while the weather has taken its toll the garden is still a mass of colour.
I have planted quite a few tulips this year, and many more miniature bulbs on the rockery so we are looking forward to next Spring and another even more colourful display!
MY GARDEN IN SPRING 1998.
In Summer 1997 I had added a water feature, the concrete bath with pebbles, and it had water just bubbling up and falling over the pebbles. From the bath it fell over the edge into a retaining pool where the pump was.
In May 1998 I extended this so that the water in the retaining pool cascaded into a new POND that I built in the left hand corner of the patio. Now I have plants in it, in flower of course, six Golden Orfes and a resident frog, ever being mindfully looked after and watched by a very inquisitive cat, Tasha!! You just can't beat the sound of gently trickling water when relaxing in the garden on a warm sunny day!
SUMMER 2000
At the end of July 2000 I extended the pond to make it almost three times bigger and over six inches deeper. The waterfall into it was changed so that it came into the pond more centrally. Now the fish can swim peacefully up and down all day long, much more room for them!!! I added two goldfish and six shubumpkins who get on very well with the four golden orfes.
Now the pond is finished it is a vast improvement to the patio. I even planted some watercress in it and that's great with some bread and cheese and home-grown radishes!
Now I've got the garden, pond and patio as I would like it. On the next page you can now see what it looked like during Summer 2001! It's a real splash of colour, the best it's ever been!!
